Chocolate Chip Cookie Pie!
Ingredients:
Crust -
12 Graham Crackers, 1/3 cup sugar, and 1/3 cup melted butter (3/4 of a stick)
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Crush Graham Crackers in a food processor or plastic bag with a rolling pin. Mix together crackers, sugar, and butter and pour into a large-ish pie dish. Use your hands and the back of a spoon to shape the crust and bring it up the sides. Bake for 5 minutes and let cool for a little while before putting the pie stuff in. (You could also buy a pre-made crust!) I got the crust recipe from here: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2009/06/key-lime-pie-sorta/. But I used less graham crackers (and it was still quite a bit more than usual, but turned out great!)
Pie Stuff -
1 package chocolate chip cookies (I use Chips Ahoy! and my mom uses Chips Deluxe)
2 small or 1 large container of Cool Whip
A bowl of milk for dipping
This is very technical. Dip each cookie in the milk until the bubbles stop and and then place in the pie crust. Make one layer of cookies and then spread on one layer of Cool Whip. Continue until you have 2 or 3 layers of each (this depends on how big your pie dish is, if you use a pre-made pie crust you'll get 2 layers). As you can see from the picture, I put some Hershey's chocolate bars on top. I usually just put chocolate syrup on individual pieces of pie when served, but I wanted this pie to be pretty for the contest! If you put the syrup on too early, it will run all over the top. Anyways, I like to make this a day ahead and serve the next day so it set up all together in the fridge. You will want to let it set for a few hours at least (make before church, eat after church... ya know!).
Steve used this recipe for the chili: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Boilermaker-Tailgate-Chili/Detail.aspx. It is our new favorite... yum!!
We didn't win anything... oh well!
